It’s good you responded so quickly to Trump’s illegal and phenomenally stupid assertions from the WH today. He just put targets on the backs of every American soldier in the Middle East and probably the world. It made Jews all over the world less safe too, because people will believe the lie that Jews are controlling the levers of power in the US.

I can only guess at the level of rage and indignation that Israelis will feel about the idea that somehow the US might take over Gaza.

That he floated this idea from the Oval Office, with Bibi smiling next to him, makes this all the more heinous — and selfish, as Trump must be thinking that Gaza would make a perfect location for luxury hotels and golf courses all with his name on them. He is dangerous and evil.

Three cheers for your sober thoughts. Mr. Netanyahu has an arrest warrant that has been issued by the International Criminal Court. He should be arrested. How does a person rationalize killing tens of thousands of innocent civilians--and over 13,000 children--- and not recognize one iota of responsibility. As a Jewish person, I find it shameful and beyond anything in Jewish teachings. Craig Brod, PhD.

I'm flabbergasted and appalled at Trump's announcement on Gaza. What does it really mean for Palestinians? For hostages? For Israeli sovereignty over Israel? I do have to say I didn't see this coming.

Those of us who have supported President Trump -- and voted for him three times -- believe this is lunacy.

The butcher Netanyahu should be arrested and tried by the International Criminal Court for his many crimes, in a setting akin to that of Adolf Eichmann's trial, with a similar result.

Also, no American should ever forget the attack by Israel on the USS Liberty.

Absolutely deplorable. Yes...I fear for the remaining hostages' lives. I fear for Israel's survival. I fear for the safety of Americans who are likely to be targeted by terrorists opposed to the incredibly stupid and reckless statements by Trump tonight. He endangers all of us.

Perfect response, Jeremy! I join many others in gratitude for your cogent rejection of this latest absurdity from the Oval Office. Might we implore Members of Congress to follow Brian Schatz's lead in obstructing Trump's initiatives in Congress?

Trump's comments about a humanitarian aid agency lets anyone see. He calls anyone who does not believe in his configurations " lunatics."

Trump knows he's lying.

But we will keep our wits and courage.

Agree Trump’s proposal is nuts. Now there are two crazy ideas on the table: Hamas wants to rid Israel of Jews and establish Palestine from the River to the Sea. Trump wants to make Gaza the Riviera of the Mideast. Other proposals? From anyone with authority?

Thank you JStreet for providing a clear and vibrant pro-Israel alternative to this madness. Trump and Netanyahu together represent a grave threat to human rights and peace between Israel and Palestinians. I, for one, stand with JStreet in wholly rejecting this horrible policy.

Jeremy, you are absolutely correct. Trump’s comments are shockingly ignorant and abhorrent but what is equally abhorrent is the callow silence from Republican members of the Senate and the House. We all need to follow your lead and speak out assertively in favor of a Palestinian homeland in Gaza and the West Bank as the only sane solution to the endless wars there. And we must also make clear that the United States has no right to take over and remake Gaza.
